There are many things you can do to prevent toe pain and problems. Did you know that many people are not wearing the correct shoe size? Your feet change shape as you age depending on a variety of factors; your shoe size can also vary depending on the shoe. Keep some best practices in mind as you shop for shoes. You should have about half an inch of wiggle room between your largest toe and the edge of the shoe. Shop in the middle of the afternoon, as your feet swell during the day, and be sure to wear the socks you'd normally wear with that pair.
Many toe problems, such as bunions, are thought to be pressure-reactions to tight-fitting shoes, such as pointy heels. Avoiding shoes that are too narrow or pointed will help decrease your chances of developing these issues.
